Bantle recognized bear No. 122, otherwise known as The Boss, due to his size and his distinctive ears. The Boss is regarded as being the most dominant grizzly bear found around Banff National Park.
Weighing in at somewhere between 650 and 700 pounds (295-317 kg), the bear’s resumé of dominance is legendary. He is considered to have a home range more than 2,500 square kilometres. He’s eaten a black bear. He even once brushed off being struck by a train but still uses the railways for travel and foraging.
And yet when I go to my local watering hole weighing in a 600lbs., no one photographs me with wonder at me being a magnificent old male with a great life story.
Have you tried eating a black bear?
And impregnating many females?
(First eat them out, then impregnate, it’s just the bear minimum of manners.)
I’ve had bear. Was pretty good off the grill. I suppose that’s different than killing and eating it raw.
You need a wider home range.
You think this grizzly knows we talk about him, take pics, etc?
Imagine being hit by a train, and not learning your lession to not walk on the tracks.
Hell, imagine surviving that at all!
He has a plan for next time.
Was the train OK?
Pancaked.
The Boss runs the national park with a home range like that jeez
It’s pretty impressive.
I’ve had a couple grizzly encounters that thankfully went fine. I don’t want to meet this guy.
Objectively cooler than Bruce Springsteen.
And Neil Young
