Nope. I don’t talk about myself like that.

  • Then talk with your other mods… close that community and open one somewhere that does disable them. I just don’t buy the excuse in the 3 pixel image from the mod basically blanket saying that downvotes are just for manipulation… Yeah I’d be a loser to go somewhere and only downvote every single thing… but I don’t see how 100% of a single user downvoting literally every item is manipulation at all, everything would go down pretty equally.

    I go out of my way to downvote things that I think don’t contribute. I don’t necessarily upvote everything that does contribute, but things that I believe contribute extraordinarily. So if you were to look at my vote history this mod might think that I’m “mass vote manipulating”. That’s kind of crazy to put yourself under such workload to look at all votes like that. If downvote manipulation is the worry, just disabled the downvote or move somewhere that has already disabled the downvotes.

  • My dad just had surgery to clear a massive DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis)… and it seems to be semi-hereditary for my family so I listened to the doctor pretty closely. If he had exerted himself in any way that broke off even a little bit of the clot, he would have died… Would it be the injuries fault or the clots fault?

    Anyone who solely blames an injury that dislodges the clot is missing the forest for the trees. In my dad’s case, it was a ticking time bomb for literally anything to dislodge it. Could have been as simple as walking that could have done it. They immobilized his leg immediately. In this case, for an injury the day prior… to be the dislodge event is a bit odd. It would have been pretty immediate from my understanding, it’s likely the injury loosened it, and some other inane event dislodged it completely. The clot already existed… and many other events could have triggered it to dislodge.

    If this is the only individual that can be used as the example… I’m not onboard personally.

  • Off-topic is not a rule of the community

    Uhh you sure about that chief?

    Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.

    It’s right there… first rule. My sidebar of my instance has nothing to do with this post, or mods, or admins, or any sanctions you would receive.

    You got but hurt that I (and somebody else) downvoted you and then started asking questions about my instance, without even tagging me to ask me… That’s literally the definition of off topic. That is the reason it was removed. What more discussion would tagging db0 net you?

    BTW… I downvoted you because I didn’t think the comment actually further discussion and specifically shuts down any meaningful discussion. Not sure what the verbiage in my sidebar has to do with any of that.

    There’s been a lot of posts that say “azaz” or “aazaz” or some other variant lately. I ignore them all at this point… but I’m surprised that admins haven’t started banning them from their instances on sight… This post has been up way too long. Mods are clearly sleeping.

  • If your neighbour can also get symmetrical internet with a residential contract, then that would be the better example to prove his point wrong.

    Sure, but I don’t get their bill now do I?

    A business contract is not a good comparison because they usually are symmetrical for a premium price regardless of the quality of the residential internet in your area.

    Which was the point of me bringing it up… my price is likely higher than my neighbor. But I know that the same speeds are available. Symmetric.

    Once again though… Without more information we can’t actually compare but at face value… I pay 5.89 times for for presumably 8-80 times more speed. EVEN ON MY BUSINESS CONTRACT. Hard to say that their service is categorically better than mine…

  • He provided details about his non-business internet being symmetrical and YOU compared it to your business contract line, that’s literally how it started.

    To my residential house… of which my neighbor can get the same service, under a residential contract. Also they didn’t say if their internet was residential or not.

    The cost is to prove that Americans do not have easy access to the same level of internet his country has, which is his main point. You needed to purchase a business line to have it symmetrical, which is not accessible to the everyone.

    No. My neighbor can also get 8/8, under a different SLA as residential. I only provided “under business contract” because that changes the price.

    Just because you can pay 100 times the cost of healthcare in European countries to get high quality heathcare in America, it doesn’t mean the average American can afford to go to the hospital or that your healthcare system is just as good. The same thing applies to your internet.

    You’re not making a good look for your stance when you over hyperbolize the situation. I pay 5.89 times more… for what could be 8-80 times more speed. We don’t know because THERE IS NOT ENOUGH INFORMATION.

  • You need to scroll up and pay attention.

    Them:

    My ISP offers symmetrical […] glad I’m not American

    Me:

    As someone living in America, I have great internet

    Them:
    <Requests direct information about cost>

    Me:
    <I oblige>

    Them:
    <makes a comparison without qualifying anything about the comparison, claiming theirs to be superior>

    Me:
    <calls it out>

    They provided no details at all… this whole engagement. We still don’t actually know what speeds they even get for their mere 28USD. Could be 100mbps and it would be significantly worse by ever metric than my 8gbps. I can’t compare my service to something that we have no details for.
