Please feel free to shoot me a message on Matrix. I’m lonely so I will probably respond to anyone lol
@supernovastar:chat.blahaj.zone
Close enough to a meme anyways. I’m not complaining!
I love Oglaf so much
In my case I think it’s “AuDHD” 🤣
And I suspect that whether/how much I feel the need to mask plays a big factor.
So what if I both get energy from and am exhausted by people? I go crazy if I spend too much time alone AND too much time with people.
It’s like a crazy dysregulated roller coaster thing
Thank you. I needed that reminder today.
Having recently learned about trees, I actually don’t think I know what a tree is. at least, not enough to create a reasonable, non-blurry definition of “tree.”
You’ve defined fish as being vertebrates, and as such I cannot find an invertebrate that fits that definition. But what you can’t do is just say the word “fish” and expect me to know what you mean - you have to provide a definition, and I could provide a different definition in a different context and neither of us would really be “wrong.”
If you did just say “fish” without providing a definition, I would be tempted to either exclude sharks or include crabs, depending on context.
… and Wikipedia states that the category of “fish” is paraphylatic, meaning that it is defined by convention rather than ‘fact’ and its boundaries can be argued, since it excludes some of the descendants of fish.
also, as pointed out by another commenter, we use the word fish to describe lots of things that are not included in this definition, like starfish and crayfish.
Source?
Because all the sources I’ve come across say that “fish” is not a monophylatic classification and is essentially arbitrary.
Some fish are, yeah
AI overall? Generally pro. LLMs and generative AI, though, I’m “against”, mostly meaning that I think it’s misused.
Not sure what the answer is, tbh. Reigning in corporations would be good.
I do think we as a society need to radically alter our relationship to IP law. Right now we ‘enforce’ IP law in a way that benefits corporations but not individuals. We should either get rid of IP law altogether (which would protect people from corporations abusing the laws) or we should enforce it more strictly, and actually hold corporations accountable for breaking it.
If we fixed that, I think gen AI would be fine. But we aren’t doing that.
Yeah? Maybe we mean different things when we say that word though.
To me, I mean that I enjoy food the way other people enjoy whatever it is that they’re passionate about. So I have a few fancy kitchen gadgets and a well-stocked spice cabinet, and I’d budget for and save for a trip to a nice restaurant the way other people budget for sneakers or makeup or whatever. I don’t think that’s a weird thing to ‘admit.’
I’m a foodie and I make those kinds of meals. I just probably use more spices than average.
Nah kids food is just that popular, because we don’t feed schoolchildren.

You’re all thinking too two-dimensionally. Clearly the people are being instructed to arrange themselves into a tetrahedron.
Exactly! Don’t stiff the worker, stiff the business
In the US? I’d say it’s pretty safe to be a little gender nonconforming unless you’re really out in the sticks. If you were properly nonbinary I would be a little more careful, but still most people will live and let live.
As a trans person, we have a lot more to fear from the federal government than from our neighbors, at least in ~80% of the country.
Judging others by your ability,is neither fair or productive, it is also a recipe for continuous disappointment.
I’m not so much judging them as bemoaning my own loneliness. To be fair, I’ve also done a good amount of judging, but that isn’t what I’m referring to here.
I’m just talking about companionship. Stimulation. Someone to play board games with, or argue about whether water is wet with.
I had a real group of peers in college. I was surrounded by people smarter than me, and it was great. I actually had to work hard to win games against them, had to actually apply myself to avoid failing my classes, and they would actually debate like they knew what they were doing. I miss it.
Billionaires are evil, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are all consciously evil. They’re “evil” like cancer.
Of course, many of them are consciously evil, too, but obviously that part is a choice.
I find most people boring. Even people who are initially interesting can become boring once I spend a lot of time with them.
Most people also don’t seem to realize just how royally fucked we are (USA). In this case I think ignorance would be bliss, since I can’t do much to make things better.
Is that what that is? shiiiiittt…
