If you don’t want to see their faces you have to stay in the lead.
I like muted looks since it goes into a living room. Bought XSX over PS5 for this reason (among others).
As to usefulness, it’s a toy. Making faces while overtaking someone in Mario Kart for all to see is pretty funny.
If I had to guess it’s to differentiate itself from the biggest „Europe” community that is pretty Zionist and to make Zionists feel unwelcome here, which is very based endeavour.

They see all the money Valve and EA is making on gambling, they’d be stupid not to try it too.
EA is considered to be relatively okay place for devs to work at - no crunch, okay salary, predictable environment. It won’t be automatically replaced by a better one.
I’m not sure how that solves the problem.
I’ve had this discussion enough times here that I’m bored of it and will get dogpiled as always. I’m mostly bored of explaining what a monopoly is because the rest of your argument is that Valve is a benevolent company. I’ll just say they sell gambling games to children which should be enough measure of their benevolence and it extends to their other self-serving activities.
Valve fans are the only video game tribe on Lemmy that actively applauds monopolistic practices. I’m blocking you now because you guys are so boring. Goodbye.
Android is just fancy Linux. iOS is just fancy BSD. I guess neither can be a monopoly.
Whataboutism seems to be admission of truth these days.
Imagine leveraging your monopoly in attempt to gain market share in another market.
I use an iPhone and a Mac but I assume Android as a more open platform has even more of those.
This is why it’s a proposal, and why I filed it more than 6 months earlier than strictly required.
But just to clarify - we will need to drop support for 32-bit x86 at some point. It’s dead, and more and more software just doesn’t support being built and / or run in 32-bit environments at all.
I’m not sure it’s a Wine/Proton thing, it’s quite likely to be suboptimal at some things because it’s reverse engineered (not to diminish technical marvel that it is and decades of effort). Regular desktop Windows has just way too much overhead coming from everywhere.
As a side note, back in the day when Nvidia released drivers for FreeBSD using Linux binary compatibility layer was even faster than Linux for gaming.
I’m against all gambling, especially targeting kids. So yeah, we can get rid of gumball machines. Bad attempt at whataboutism because I’m no hypocrite.
Selling cosmetics via loot boxes is gambling. They market their video games to children (all rated 13+). Way to twist what I’ve said lol. Goodbye, I’m blocking all Valve shills for sanity lately.
For me that comes up to a couple hundred euros, definitely not seeing where that goes.
Someone said here that Valve doesn’t chase profit at all cost because they’re a private company. We’re talking about pioneers of enshittification though, look what they’ve done to CS, Team Fortress 2 or Dota 2. They turned both into casinos for children, breaking cohesion and balance, just to chase the profits. Do you think those people run Steam ethically or with your interest in mind? Other companies would be crucified for anything similar but Valve gets away somehow.
Are you saying that if there was another store that you could move all your games to, with 10% cut, 10% discount for you and 10% discount for the developer you wouldn’t use it because Steam is so good? Take a look at your games library and imagine 20% of what you paid not going to Valve. Do they really provide good value for that money?
This is a Hori product, official Nintendo camera is much better (but also kinda overpriced).
