Shopping is not a pleasant experience for us. The millions of products trying to attract my attention, the people I don’t want to talk to. It’s a hostile environment.
I always managed it by zooming through getting everything on my list in the right route.
My partner just doesn’t work that way. Hither and thither and lots of “just browsing” in between.
This seems kinda harsh.
CSAM distribution is possible on pretty much any platform.
As long as the platform isn’t obfuscating a user’s IP address then I don’t see how it’s any worse than any other platform.
A few weeks ago everyone in this community was fawning over some dev’s new anonymous zero-knowledge file sharing platform and no one seemed to care that it would be overrun with CSAM.

I was wondering if there’s any nuclear generation in ireland. There isn’t.
The chart shows that approximately 2/3 of energy generated is from natural gas, which is a fossil fuel.
Note that the transformation losses represent the inefficiency of converting from thermal to electrical. These don’t apply to wind and solar, 100% of the energy produced is available to the grid. So while 2/3 of energy produced might be from fossil fuel, only half the energy consumed is from fossil fuel.
Regardless, it’s not my intention to throw shade on Ireland. There’s another chart on that page that shows their increases in renewable energy production. They’re doing great.
The extent to which that’s possible is debatable.
I think it’s simply that there’s less incentive to find or to host those small forums.

This is less applicable to supermarkets a d more applicable to local green grocers.
Coffee seems to be one of those things supermarkets regularly price cycle.
If i buy 4x 1kg bags when it’s 30% off, i rarely have to buy any at full price.
This doesn’t work for artisan’s coffee you buy direct from the roaster obviously.

It’s weird how much i like this app.
It’s free / open, solves a problem elegantly, and I use it all the time.
It’s an android app that uses your display to make a “glow” to light a room rather than using the camera flash like a torch.
It’s in F-Droid.
Obviously the camera flash is more powerful if you’re outside or whatever, but using the display this way is way better inside. That tiny little dazzling pin-prick of light is just… unpleasant.
With candle you can also set whatever color you like. Red is nice to avoid waking people or ruining night vision.
I discovered this app when we had twins and waking up to nurse them overnight. Gonna sound weird if you’ve not been through this but basically they won’t really wake up they make a gentle sooky noise, and you put a bottle or boob in their mouth and they suckle while they sleep. If you turn a light on they’re gonna wake up which is sub-optimal.
I don’t know anything at all about the mods in this sub, nor what you said, so this isn’t a judgement of that mod at all. However…
I do share your frustration.
I get that mods don’t have time to enter arguments with commenters about their comments.
However, that dynamic does allow mods to just remove comments for ideological reasons, or their personal opinions.
I just re-stated the original “it’s kinda wild” statement which you had misrepresented as some kind of opinion.

Yeah I can’t remember the reasoning / evidence but I do remember reading that Cleopatra was unlikely to have been beautiful or “sexy”. IIRC it’s indeed because she was likely to have congenital deformities due to inbreeding - much like those of Tutankhamen.
She was extraordinary powerful, well educated, and had a terrifying intellect. Additionally she would have bathed daily which would have been alluring in that era.
That said, there’s no shortage of other powerful Egyptian babes, Nefertiti and Hatshepsut come to mind.
Edit: Plutarch the Roman historian said something diplomatic like physical beauty is not her most striking feature. Which, when talking about a ruler, is saying she’s ugly.
I had kids a couple of years ago.
Before having kids I didn’t really have time for “gaming”, but I did lounge around watching TV for a few hours before sleep.
Now with kids it’s pretty much the same dynamic, but that few hours down time is interspersed with tending to the kidlets.

I just didn’t think the CSAM angle is much of a criticism, even if they did try to minimise it.
